Whether you're stepping beyond day hikes for the first time or building the confidence to tackle New Zealand's Great Walks, this two-day overnight experience at the Pinnacles Hut gives you the skills to thrive in the backcountry. Across two days on trail, you'll develop essential overnight packing, campsite selection, hut etiquette, and gear management, everything you need for multi-day adventures. As the first day winds down, you'll gain hands-on experience with outdoor cooking and evening camp routines before settling in for the night. Day two builds on the foundations of navigation, weather awareness, and group decision-making in the New Zealand bush, all grounded in the principles of Leave No Trace. By the time you return, you'll have the knowledge and confidence to step into safe, enjoyable overnight adventures and a clear pathway to the Great Walks beyond.

Transport is included from our office at 9 Geddes Terrace, Avondale, Auckland to the trailhead and back.
